About Us

TREDA
TREDA is a non-profit organization involved in supporting and improving the quality of life of uneducated and financially vulnerable people afflicted with substance addiction in rural and urban areas.
As an organisation, we have supported over 5 lakh families who were affected by alcoholism and other drug dependence with a 95% sobriety rate. Our focus is on uplifting impoverished villages, providing low-cost preventive treatment, follow-ups, and awareness initiatives without compromising quality.
About TREDA
OUR JOURNEY
On August 17, 1993, Sister Lilly Chunkapura MMS, inspired by the Medical Missionary Sisters, founded TREDA (Treatment, Rehabilitation, and Education of Drug Abuse). With modest beginnings, the facility initially operated from a rented building equipped with 10 beds. Treda has been rendering its service to the people of Karnataka since 1996.
Over the years, thousands of patients with alcohol and drug addiction have been treated, healed, and rehabilitated in society. It is run by OCD Fathers, with experienced and equipped staff. Treda offers one of the best services as a de-addiction centre in Bangalore.
TYPES OF PATIENTS
In today's world, feelings of frustration, unhappiness, sadness, insecurity, and helplessness are alarmingly widespread, affecting people regardless of age, gender, social class, location, or economic standing. These negative emotions stem from various factors within the individual, family, or society. As individuals become restless and stressed, their well-being, health, and efficiency decline, leading to increased negative thoughts and emotions.
Physical and mental suffering are also on the rise. While people generally manage their problems through experience and wisdom, a lack of emotional support from friends and family, who are often preoccupied with their issues, exacerbates feelings of loneliness and isolation, weakening relationships.
MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT & COUNSELLING
With increasing industrialization, urbanization, and life's complexities, people face various problems. Urbanization's unceasing trend has exacerbated these issues. The accelerated pace of change, novel situations, and diverse options intended to bring happiness have, paradoxically, undermined contentment and happy living conditions. Delays or wrong solutions can worsen the situation, increasing pain.
Despite this, some individuals manage to solve problems through trial and error, experience, and wisdom. Our tradition and social setup have the potential to nurture such individuals who are committed to helping others. Hence, Treda caters to those needing guidance, mental health support, and counseling, providing crucial assistance for improved well-being.

Sr. Lilly Chunkapura MMS is a member of the International Society of Catholic Medical Mission Sister. She rendered a commendable service as director of Treda in Bangalore until 2021. Her commitment and selfless service radiated compassionate healing among the poor and the broken.
She started TREDA because there was a need for a low-cost, high-quality de-addiction center in Bangalore. One of the major projects she worked on during her service was at KGF, Kolar. With the support of the Institutions in Carmelaram and the TREDA team she focused on community Development, Empowerment of women and children, youth leadership, awareness classes on HIV/AIDS, Drug addiction, de-addiction, and mental health awareness classes. She was also the president of CHAKA (Catholic Health Association of Karnataka).
